Sophomore albums are often overlooked, debut albums are the ones that are commemorated 10 years on. However there are some absolutely iconic sophomore albums by some incredible bands that I wanted to share with you here on After Midnight Radio.

This episode is one that came from a conversation I had with my Dad while in the car and listening to music as we do, musing over why we like certain songs or what makes a great album. We started discussing why we think sophomore albums are perhaps in our opinions better than the debuts, even some incredible debut albums. I feel like the most successful sophomore albums are the ones where the bands or artists have leaned in to who they are as musicians and evolved their sound further than perhaps they were capable of on their debuts. This may be for a number of reasons from touring more and creating while on the road, or having the success from a debut to fall back onto. 

I wanted to share with you some of my favourite sophomore albums, these are in no particular order and of course are based on the music I grew up listening to and discovering.
